Villa dos Mistérios
One of the biggest attractions in Pompeii is the Vila dos Mistérios. It is a gigantic mansion with 60 rooms, built in the 2nd century BC, being one of the best preserved. Its name comes from the triclinium fresco (in ancient Rome it was a refectory with three or more inclined beds, arranged around a table.), painted around 70-60 BC. It was here that many wealthy Roman families stayed during their vacations. Restoring this attraction took two years of intensive work. In addition to reinforcing the structures of the environment, there was a great concern in recovering the many frescoes existing there.
The frescoes, still under study, seem to show the different stages of the ritual of initiation into the cult of the god of wine and pleasure, known as Bacchus (Dionysus in Greek). The central character seems to be a young noblewoman who goes through the ritual, so that she could gain access to the society of the time. In some of the ritualistic phases the god himself is found. There is also the presence of mythological beings.
Faun’s House
It would be a large-scale housing complex, the likes of which are not found elsewhere. Here there were rooms, halls and areas dedicated to the most diverse activities. The “Casa del Fauno” owes its name to the bronze statuette of the dancing faun, which was placed in the center of one of the main rooms. Amphitheater of Pompeii

The House of the Vettii is one of many Domus in Pompeii. The Domus is a massive house occupied by the Roman upper classes.

Temple of Apollo
The Sanctuary of Apollo is one of the oldest places of worship in Pompeii, built in a strategic point, along the path that goes up to Marina Gate, which led to the public heart of the city. This ancient stone temple has crumbling columns and a statue of the God Jupiter for all to see.
House of Sallust
It is the second Domus that you must visit. The oldest parts of this house have been dated back to the 4th century BC.
This house is named after the election notice that was also excavated with the house. The election announcement recommended a gentleman named Gaius Sallustius for the post.
The house is one of the most important examples of housing from the Samnite period, dating back to around 180 BC, from which we can see a large part of everything original, including the façade in tuff blocks and the atrium. Even the decoration on the walls of many rooms is from that period and it is one of the best preserved houses in Pompeii. The paintings imitate marble slabs, and allow us to perceive the severe monumentality that art.
It went through several earthquakes, and resisted – in parts – the eruption, not to mention that the place also suffered from bombings in the Second World War.
